Graduate Program: Research Areas
The varied interests of the faculty are reflected in the broad range of research conducted by graduate students. Incoming graduate students have great flexibility in choosing research topics. To maintain this flexibility, students spend their first semester at Princeton learning about the various research areas spanned by the department's faculty, and select their advisor(s) and research project in January of their first year of residence. In addition, all Ph.D. students are supported on full fellowship for the first academic year, freeing students from teaching and research commitments during this crucial period.
A detailed description of each faculty member's research interests is given on his/her faculty webpage; an overview list of selected research areas and the participating faculty is provided here. In keeping with our dedication to the advancement of the frontiers of knowledge, outstanding research facilities are available on the Princeton campus.
